﻿{"id":12237,"date":"2023-01-28T11:30:41","date_gmt":"2023-01-28T10:30:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.fiorinint.com\/consumers-prefer-paper-packaging-for-compostability-for-being-natural-and-easy-to-recycle\/"},"modified":"2023-01-28T11:30:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-28T10:30:41","slug":"consumers-prefer-paper-packaging-for-compostability-for-being-natural-and-easy-to-recycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiorinint.com\/en\/consumers-prefer-paper-packaging-for-compostability-for-being-natural-and-easy-to-recycle\/","title":{"rendered":"Consumers prefer paper packaging for compostability, for being natural and easy to recycle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Paper packaging central to consumer purchasing decisions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Packaging<\/strong> continues to be the key industry in transformation to a <strong>circular-economy<\/strong> model: consumers\u2019 <strong>shopping behavior<\/strong> has a strong influence on the definition of design for <strong>brands<\/strong> and <strong>manufacturers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent survey on European consumers\u2019 preferences, perceptions, and attitudes about <strong>packaging<\/strong>*, <strong>paper packaging<\/strong> emerges as the top favorite for <strong>compostability<\/strong> <strong>(72%)<\/strong>, for being <strong>natural (62%),<\/strong> and easy to <strong>recycle (57%)<\/strong>. According to the same study, 70% of consumers are actively involved in reducing the use of plastic packaging and 48% of consumers prefer not to buy from brands and retailers that are not actively involved in reducing the use of non-recyclable plastic packaging.<\/p>\n<p>58% of consumers also believe it is right to <strong>discourage the use of non-recyclable packaging<\/strong> and 66% of e-commerce users prefer products delivered in <strong>paper packaging<\/strong> as well as the right size (not too large for the effective size of the product). Environmental labels <strong>are also a key<\/strong> influencing factors for packaging as it allows consumers to understand the <strong>environmental values<\/strong> of products and packaging and influence their purchasing decisions: 64% of the interviewed consumers are also aware about the <strong>Forest Stewardship Council FSC, <\/strong>and recognise its importance for<strong>circular- economy<\/strong> and <strong>sustainable development.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Paper-based packaging, both for its <strong>ecological<\/strong> attributes and the possibility of <strong>recycling<\/strong>, represents the favorite preference of consumers: they are also disposed to change their behavior and <strong>spend more<\/strong> for a sustainable shopping experience. Consumer awareness about sustainability leads to an increasing commitment by manufacturers and retailers to <strong>develop<\/strong> and <strong>promote<\/strong> <strong>products<\/strong>, <strong>processes,<\/strong> and <strong>actions<\/strong> that are compliant with a <strong>sustainable<\/strong> <strong>environmental<\/strong>, <strong>economic<\/strong> and <strong>ethical<\/strong> <strong>development<\/strong> strategy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paper packaging central to consumer purchasing decisions Packaging continues to be the key industry in transformation to a circular-economy model: consumers\u2019 shopping behavior has a strong influence on the definition of design for brands and manufacturers.
